March 2022 Patient of the Month: Brian Jobe!

Congratulations to our March 2022 Patient of the Month: Brian Jobe!

Brian is an avid runner and has been going to early morning sessions with Dr. Nick to recover from frequent calf strains. Over the last two years his ability to run as been significantly affected due to this chronic injury.

During his evaluation Dr. Nick discovered imbalances that were causing these frequent flare ups. After persistent hard work and dedication to PT, Brian has seen some great results and is back to running pain free. Check out his story below!

"I'm a former competitive runner who has had to learn to deal with getting older and slower, but for the past two years my training has been drastically curtailed due to recurring calf strains. I took up Crossfit to build better overall body strength and fitness, which has succeeded in making me stronger. But, as anyone who has ever done Crossfit knows, it has not helped with injury recovery!

"I've also gone to physical therapists, acupuncture, stretch labs, and have accumulated an entire suite of PT equipment (bands, wobble board, muscle scraper, massage gun, etc.) for home treatment, but I could never seem to find a lasting solution. After yet another Crossfit WOD where I had to scale the running and jump roping due to my calves, several of my classmates suggested I check out OTB.

"Working with Dr. Nick has been fantastic. He has worked hard to help my calves heal and recover to get me back out on the roads. But what has been more valuable is his focus on the root cause, and not just the symptoms. By building strength in areas of weakness and focusing on improving my mechanics, we can get ahead of the next strain before it strikes.

"It has been very hard work (and painful at times!) but Nick's sense of humor and relatability make it easy to push through the challenges. He listens when I complain about how much homework he is assigning, and he encourages me when I get frustrated at my inability to catch nerf balls standing on one leg on a wobble board. I'm very happy with my progress so far, and having been through many other programs, I really appreciate the fresh perspective that I received at OTB to help get me on the road to racing again!"

At OTB, we truly do our best to solve your issues from their origin. The location of pain may be different than the source, and our whole body approach will target that source for long term results!

BRIAN, THANKS FOR BEING SUCH A GREAT PATIENT! WE'RE SO HAPPY TO HAVE BEEN ABLE TO KEEP YOU IN THE GYM AND GET YOU BACK TO TRUE PASSION OF RUNNING RACES!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
